Hope for Congo:
The Elikya Project Report

The leadership and many widows and orphans in the Democratic Republic of Congo are thanking the Lord for the generosity of so many people at AHEFC.

From our first project in 2005:

An AIDS educational program was begun and continues to be widely used in the Ubangi area of Congo.

• The first orphan sponsorship began, and now hundreds of orphans are being sponsored.

• Two homes were built for the directors of the orphan program.

• A V-SAT satellite communication system was installed to allow communication with the world.

As a result of the 2007-2008 Hope for Congo: The Elikya Project:

• 129 more orphans will be supported this year, each receiving a red backpack with school supplies.

• 300 orphans will be supplied with new socks and shoes.

• The new generator and electrical system have been installed at the Congo Evangelical Free Church home office.

• Two homes will be built for the most needy widows and the children they care for

• The Elikya Training Center will be constructed on the Elikya property and equipped to train widows and older orphans in marketable skills.

• And other critical needs from the excess given!

The initial goal for our project was $150,000. Thanks to the generosity of our people, as of Missions Sunday (March 9, 2008) the total funds given total $190,000! This is incredible, and thousands of people will benefit from the gifts given through these two projects. To God be the glory!
